Portfolio
of Matt Gillmore.
a
little collection of this and that...
Last Updated May 9th, 2007.
A great sampling of my work is here, focusing on websites, but also including
Flash Animation, Music, Art and Mixed Medium. While this sample is by
no means my complete body of work, what I have here should be enough to
give you an idea of my capabilities and style.

American
Airlines Vacations Portal.
American Airlines Vacations is the travel portal of American Airlines.
They are in the process of converting to a new third-party booking
engine and redesigning their website. I was of great assistance
in ascertaining the capabilities of the third-party engine and in
designing a front end that complimented the features and achieved
AAV's objectives. Over the course of the contract the oversight
committees and corporate board approved my designs for the new look
and feel of the website.

Sunny
Schlenger, Bestselling Author, Motivational Speaker.
Sunny Schlenger is a bestselling author and motivational speaker.
Sunny was pleased with her original website but was ready for a
new look and feel. I redesigned Sunny's new site from the ground
up according to her input and direction. I created new proofs for
her business printed materials from her existing designs.

Equine
Experiences
Dr. Allison Sinclair is a therapist in Dallas TX recently certified
in Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning. Allison has no previous
website or hosting experience, so I took care of everything for
her from designing and building the website to registering the domain
and hosting.

WordSpace
Texas
Wordspace
Texas is a non profit literary organization in Dallas Texas promoting
cultural literacy and the arts in many form. I was very pleased
to design and build this site for them, as well as straighten out
their hosting mess and set them up with new hosting.

XOCorp...
XO
wanted their website redesign to reflect the light, clean, clearing
properties of their odor neutralizing product. They wanted a look
that was simple and streamlined enough to appeal to their industry,
while glossy and pretty enough to appeal to their end consumer.
They also needed a way to have a simple vendor directory that customers
could use and that XO employees could maintain themselves. I designed
it and build it, including a back end system where they can administer
and maintain the directory database, all on their pre-existing hosting.

HomeCare
Contracting
Focusing
on Home Contracting for the Elderly and the Handicapped, HomeCare
Contracting had design and build a simple splash page for contact
and marketing, which I also host for them.

Bhutan
Vacation Email Advertisement...
I
designed this email advertisement for a Vestal Media client. I created
all the graphics from images supplied by the client.
|
|
The
Heartless Stone...
I designed theheartlessstone.com for a Vestal Media client. The
header was designed in Flash MX and the photographs were supplied
by the author. All other graphics are my creation.

A
Financial website template...
The
centerpiece of this template is its Flash header. The rest is loose
design based on the looks of other financials websites.
|
|
Another
Asteroids Knock-off...
What
the world needs is another Asteroids knock-off. This is my
revamped version of a tutorial
and their version which you can see here.
I redesigned all the objects, added explosions on the asteroids
and the ship, added a shield function which depletes your score
but protects your ship, and reworked the controls. This is my first
Flash Game.

About
this template...
I
designed this website from scratch in about 15 hours inside a 36
hour time period. I designed the header in Macromedia Flash MX with
a 9" x 12" Wacom tablet and pen. I experimented with different
ways of animating the plants and the fish and I set them on uneven
timlines so the loop doesn't feel quite so static. I looked at a
couple photos for reference but mostly drew everything up from imagination,
including animating the colorful swaying plants.

|
My
recent work...
I
put www.girlyware.com together for a Vestal Media client. They provided
the template and the content. I hot-rodded the Flash header and
put it all together. I completed the project in three days.

The
creator of The Crow...
James
O'Barr is the creator of The Crow, a record-holding black-and-white
graphic novel adapted into the cult movie starring Brandon Lee.
The site that I created for James is completely dynamic. Galleries
can be created and populated from back end forms on the fly. Pages
can be added and sorted into categories from back end administration.
All with minimal HTML and FTP knowledge. This site sustains tens
of thousands of visitors a week.

|
CrowFansOnline...
The
original incarnation of jamesobarr.net, now defunct, shown only
in screenshot here.
|
|
Flash
Comic Strip...
For
over two years and almost 200 episodes I cranked out a browsable
comic strip. I won lots of awards and had hundreds of thousands
of visitors a month. But ultimately the fame and the pressure would
cave me, and I would give it all up to charity and become a Hermish
Monk.
|
|
Real
Estate...
I've
done a few Real Estate websites and I like this one for its light
airy look. It's not the stereotype that you expect a Real Estate
Website to look like.
|
|
My
only political website...
I
put this together for Mike Mansfield who gave a run at a Dallas
City Council seat, only to find out how truly dirty politics can
be. He had a great first run and ended up with a good looking site
out of it.

When
you work for the Church...
Ya
can't complain about it, cuz God's listening. Heh. But I'm especially
proud of this menu I created. Note the clip art that I rerendered
and colored from the original version on this before
screenshot. They maintain their own website now, so it sometimes
is a little off...

Skin
Therapy Clinics in Dallas...
This
site was a lot of fun with all the lips and design. Plus the subject
matter was pretty plush...
|
|
Ecommerce
Delux...
I
built this store from the ground up. Every single thing in place
was created by me. It ran for over three years and did very well
and then sold out.

Web
Animation...
"Misty"
is a song I recorded with three of my good friends. I wrote all the lyrics
and recorded all vocals. Animating the video for it took me six weeks.
I designed everything in Macromedia Flash 4 with a 9" x 12"
Wacom tablet and pen. This work was completed in 2000.
"Kill
the Brain" is a song mixed from samples by my good buddy Austin.
It's my first Flash Animated Music Video, so it's the great testing ground.
This work was completed in 2000. All things considered, it still holds
up, and the song is quite catchy.
Artwork...
"Ellen
Awaken" is an experiment in mixed media. I sampled images from the
web including a space warp, an explosion, and time-exposed traffic lights
and mixed them all together with my own inks and colored pencil. The end
result is printed on linen textured paper and is quite stunning.
Another
experiment in mixed media is this collaboration between digital photo
and my colored pencils to produce a photo you couldn't get in real life.
Of
my dozen oil paintings I have only this one digital photo of my first
painting, painted over 20 years ago when I was 15. It measures 18"
x 24" and is oils on stretched canvas.
I
took a digital image of my cats, brushed out all the stuff in front and
back and threw a filter on it for this wonderful image. Looks absolutely
great printed on heavy paper.
